Betty Wagner was born Oct. 7, 1952,
to parents Mary “Capps” and James Davis
of Evansville, Indiana. Betty had one older
brother and one older sister. Her parents
both worked in factories. Her father
was in the steel industry and her mother
worked in a sewing factory. Betty remembers
her mother and Aunt Rose bringing
home scrap pieces of material. They
would use these to sew clothes for the
family.
Betty attended several elementary
schools between Indiana and Illinois.
Eventually her family settled down in
Chicago, Illinois. Betty attended Trumbull
High School, graduating in 1966.
After high school she met and married
Daniel Wagner. The couple were married
on May 1, 1971. They made their home in
Redding, California. Together they had
two daughters, Michelle and Tammy.
Betty moved back to Chicago to live
with her parents in the seventies. She
worked at Lane Bryant selling women's
clothing. Her and her daughters were
members of a Baptist Church in Chicago.
Her daughter Michelle grew up and
moved to Popular Bluff and later Ash
Grove, Missouri. Michelle and her husband
were able to convince Betty to move
with them. She has two granddaughters,

one grandson and five great-grand children.
Betty’s hobbies include needle work,
reading, listening to country music and
rock n roll from the 50s and 60s.
Betty’s advice to the youth is, “Be true
to yourself. Treat others, especially your
elders, with respect.”
Congratulations, Betty, on being chosen
as the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility’s
Resident of the Month.

of the Month
Quinn Holland, Charge Nurse,
was chosen as Ash Grove
Healthcare Facility’s
Employee of the Month for
May. The Employee of the
Month for June has yet to be
determined. The individual who
is selected will be featured in
the July edition of the Rocking
Chair News.
