Resident of the Month,
Raymond Hardman
Raymond Hardman was born on Oct.
12, 1929, in Willard, Missouri, to par-
ents Lena and Harrison Hardman. Ray-
mond had two brothers and two sisters.
He graduated from Willard High School
in 1946. He married Mary on Oct. 11,
1953, and together they had a family of
three sons and one grandson. The couple
celebrated sixty-six years of marriage.
Raymond is an Army veteran serving
1951-1953 at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas
and one year in in schooling at Ft.
Mammoth, Missouri Raymond was in
the Army Signal Corp as a radio techni-
cian.
Raymond’s occupations included
working in the Petroleum and gas sta-
tions, a tire shop and Hardman Auto
Parts and Hardware store in Willard for
10 years before he retired. Raymond is
also a pilot and owned two airplanes, a
two seater and a 5 five passenger plane.
Raymond is a big NASCAR fan and
attended races in Lebanon, Missouri. He
is also a Springfield Cardinals fan. He
enjoys woodworking and even built an A
frame cabin on stilts on their farm in
Everton, Missouri on Sinking creek. He
likes raising vegetables and fishing. He
caught a nine foot record breaking fish in
Mexico while deep sea fishing on a trip
that he had won. Each year they would
go crappie fishing in Canada. Raymond
loves his two Australian Shepherds. He
is a country music fan and enjoyed going
to The Presley's and The Dutton’s in
Branson, Missouri. He enjoys reading
the newspaper daily, playing bingo and
bunco and watching ball games. He and
Mary enjoyed flea marketing while
looking for McCoy pieces.
Raymond and Mary have attended the
Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Willard
for several years.
