Mildred attended the Rich- wood School through the 8th grade. Mildred met Bobby Delk and they married on Nov. 10, 1945. The couple made their home in Springfield, Mis- souri for a while until they moved to the farm in Everton, Missouri. They eventually built a home in the west part of Everton. Mildred worked in the lingerie department of the Dixie Shop in Springfield where she dressed the manikins for the store and that is where she met Bobby Delk. It was a love at first sight meeting and they were shortly married thereafter. Mildred has three children: Benny Delk of Kansas City, Missouri; Dennis and Robbie Delk of Greenfield, Missouri; and Roger Delk of Everton. Mildred has three grandchildren and three great-grand children. Mildred and Bobby celebrated sixty years together. Bobby passed away in 2005. Mildred attended the Liberty Baptist and Everton Baptist Churches. She likes spending time at her home and you might have seen her out in her yard doing lawn work and growing flowers and working in the poultry barn where they raised chickens. Mildred’s hobbies include quilting, games, word search, listening to country and gospel music and card games. Mildred’s favorite colors are blue and pink. Her fa- vorite food is homemade hot rolls! Her best friend was Ida Mae Hensley. Her favorite flower is the red rose. Mildred’s motto is “To witness to someone about the Lord.” She loves to visit with her friends and family. “One time when it was snowing and Bobby had gone to work, we were expecting to have a cow to calve that day and I was to keep watch and bring the calf into the warm. That day there were four new calves born so I got all four of them into the house and got them warmed up until Bobby got home and told me they had to get those calves back out to their mamas so they would claim them,” said Mildred. What a time that was in the life of a farm wife! Congratulations, Mildred Delk, for being chosen as February’s Residents of the Month for Ash Grove Healthcare Facility!
