years. He has been involved in area churches and taught
bible study classes for young adults for 25 years.
Bill and Barbara were high school sweethearts. The
couple were married on Dec. 12, 1952, before Bill joined
the Army. On their wedding day Bill said, “Barbara was
the prettiest girl he ever laid eyes on!” Barbara joined him
at Ft. Mead, Md., in 1955, where they rented an apartment.
Together they have one daughter, Brenda, and husband,

to the western states and Old Mexico in a cab camper.
Bill and Barbara are members of the Sac Ville Cowboy
Church. The couple have been members of gospel singing
groups for 35 years going to Willard Care Center and Ash
Grove Healthcare Facility on a regular basis.
Barbara, Bill and Brenda are best friends. Bill drove
Brenda to school on the bus everyday. “Being raised on the
farm I had a lot of puppies, ponies and goats,” said Brenda.
“Daddy also taught me about living for the Lord and how
to clean out the milking parlor. He said if I could do that, I
could handle any situation in life. My mother taught me
how to sew and to raise, butcher and dress chickens.”
