Resident of the Month , Delores Maples
Employee of the Month
Delores Maples was born Aug . 3 , 1934 , to parents Chester and Nellie Griffiths of Dixon , Neb . She graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence , Mo . Delores married Robert “ Bob ” Lien and they had four children : Jon ; Chester ; Bobbi and Arthur Lien . She was divorced and then married William Maples who passed away in 2014 . Together they celebrated 52 years .
Delores has 12 grandchildren , 26 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren , making five genera-
tions in their family ! Family is very important to Delores . She attends the Gruebaugh family reunion ( from her mother ’ s side ) held every two years in Cuba , Mo . Additionally , some of Delores ’ family works at Ash Grove Healthcare including Bobbi and Lyle Smith .
Delores has held several jobs over her lifetime including her first job as a car hop when she was 15 years old . She also worked for Bell Telephone and later as a farmer ’ s wife where they raised beef cattle . Delores ’ travels have taken her to Cuba , Washington , Idaho , and Japan where two children were born while they were in the Army . She recalls that during the Depression they went from Nebraska to the West Coast to find work .
Delores moved to Ash Grove Healthcare Facility in August 2016 . She enjoys bingo , exercise class , Bunco , music programs , and outings to go shopping and visiting local restaurants for lunch . She likes to read and watch television . Delores went to the Buck Trent Show in Branson last fall . She attended the Golden Age Games at Bolivar where she won fourth place in woodworking on her bird house . Delores also was an actress in the Live Nativity presented in December . She is planning on participating in the upcoming Queen of Hearts Pageant on Feb . 14 . Delores is a long-time member of the Jehovah ’ s Witness Church .

Congratulations ! Catherine Medley has been chosen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility ’ s January Employee of the Month . Catherine was selected by her peers for her dedication to AGHF and to our residents . The Employee of the Month for February has yet to be determined . The individual who is selected will be featured in the March edition of the Rocking Chair News .
