Resident of the Month,
Joanie Schroder
Joanie Schroder was born Nov.
16, 1932, to parents Curtis and
Bessie Huff, in Searcyville, Illi-
nois. Joanie has two brothers,
Donald and Bill, and one sister,
Opal.
Joanie had married twice be-
fore she found the love of her life,
Al Schroder. The couple were
married on Nov. 5, 1968. Together
they celebrated 35 years of mar-
riage until he passed in 2003. To-
gether the couple had six children:
William; Kristy; Mellissa; Steve; James;
and Danny; four grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Joanie has been a member of Second
Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri for
several years.
She was a bookkeeper for the family
farm where her dad raised cattle and corn.
She later worked for Owing’s Oil Company
in the business office. Joanie volunteered
for 30 years for the Ronald McDonald
House in Springfield. She was known as
the “folded fitted sheet lady” and would
teach the others how to fold the fitted
sheets.
Joanie loved having a yellow canary.
She also likes dogs and cats. Her hobbies
include collecting antique dishes, needle
point, embroidery work, horse back riding,
working in raised gardens and canning. She
likes country music and reading women’s
magazines and books.
Joanie used to travel to California to see
her sister and has traveled all over the Unit-
ed States.

November Employee of the
Month. The Employee of the
Month for December has yet to be
determined. The individual who
is selected will be featured in the

Chair News.
