Resident of the Month,
Allen Lang
Allen Lang was
born on May 26,
1942, to parents
Gustav and Vernis
Lang in Cheyenne,
Wyo. Allen has
three brothers and
one sister. He at-
tended the Bloom-
field and Bailey
Technical schools
for auto mechanics.
He served three years as the crew chief in the
Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Allen
worked many years as an auto mechanic for
Dexter Motors and Schism Motors in Bloom-
field. He retired in 2004, and moved to the
Ozarks. Allen served as a volunteer paramed-
ic and volunteer fireman. He organized and
taught the first responder program for
Bloomfield and trained emergency workers.
Allen and Vicci Lang married on Sept. 16,
1980. Together, they have a family of five
children, 10 grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.
In Allen’s retirement years, he liked his
pets, doing things with his grandchildren,
going to Silver Dollar City, going fishing at
Fellows Lake, and doing a lot of walking.
He used to draw in his younger days, but
after he retired he took up acrylic painting.
Allen preferred painting pictures of horses,
cars and old west scenes. He loved to watch
“Gunsmoke.” He and Vicci would attend
area country and southern gospel music
concerts at Silver Dollar City, Lebanon Al-
bert E. Brumley and Bible Baptist College
music programs. He drove a Sunday school
bus, and picked up children and delivered
them to the Baptist and Assembly of God
Church. He likes to attend church, Sunday
school, and musical activities here at
AGHCF.
The Lang’s travels have taken them to
Yellowstone National Park, twice, Myrtle
Beach, S.C., Galveston, N.C., Nebraska, the
Black Hills in South Dakota, and Branson,
Mo. He liked going to flea markets and col-
lecting Zane Grey books.
An interesting fact: Allen and Elvis Presley
had the same sergeant in the Army. That
sergeant said he was impressed with Elvis.
Congratulations Allen for being chosen as
resident of the month.
