Resident of the Month,
Denzel “Joe” Bever
Denzel “Joe”
Bever was born
in Milo, Mo. on
Aug. 15, 1927,
to parents Forest
Nadine and
Joseph Bever.
Growing up, he
had one sister,
Hazel Gibbs.
Joe attended the Union School
north of Nevada, Mo. Two months
after starting high school, Joe left
and joined the Navy.
He served in the Navy during WWII (1944-1949) in the Philippines and Japan. He recalls a time
during the war, when his ship was
attacked. Luckily they made it to
safety. He has served his country
well
Joe married Dora Money.
They made their home in Nevada,

Mo. They have been blessed with
seven children, 10 grandchildren
and several great-grandchildren.
In 1969, the couple chose to go
their separate ways.
Joe’s was a house painter
for many years. His hobbies include fishing, dancing, airplane
flying and being outside. In his
spare time he loves to garden and
raise flowers. He is a member of
the Elks and American Legion. He
lived in the Adrian Missouri where
they gave the veterans a memorial
book of the USS Missouri .
It has always been a dream of
Joe’s to take the Honor Flight and
visit the WWII Memorial.
Joe says that he has had a
happy life. Congratulations for being chosen as August’s Resident of
the Month!
