Resident of the Month,
Dorothy Johnson
Dorothy Johnson was born
Aug. 23, 1923, in Greene County,
Mo., to Roy and Eula Whitehead.
Dorothy had a family of five broth-
ers and three sisters and she is the
last member of her family. Dorothy
attended Pleasant Hope Grade
School, then graduated from the Ash
Grove High School in 1941. Doro-
thy married James Johnson on Sept.
14, 1943, and he passed away in
1992. The couple had one son,
James Marvin Johnson who married
his wife, Kathy. Dorothy has two
grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren.
Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper
for three years for the Ash Grove
Farmer’s Exchange.
Dorothy has been a member of
the First Free Will Baptist Church in
Springfield for 57 years. Dorothy
drove herself to church until the age
of 89 years old! She has been instru-
mental in inviting her church to
come and sing on Saturdays.
Dorothy enjoys gardening, hand
quilting and embroidery, going out to
eat and family get togethers. Her favor-
ite music is country and gospel. Dorothy
and James traveled all over the USA.
Dorothy loves eating cashew chicken
and her motto is “work and keep on
going!”
Congratulations Dorothy for being
