Resident of the Month , Beverly Jones
Employee of the Month
Beverly Jones was born May 25 , 1936 , to parents Raymond and Mamie Marley of Kansas City , Mo . She attended the Kansas City School until the family moved to Ozark , Mo ., when she was in the 11th grade . Her father owned and operated the Marley Hardware Store on the Ozark Square . Beverly has two brothers and one sister .
Beverly met and married Carl Schubbach . Together the couple had one child , Karla Pennington of Ash Grove , Mo ., and two grandchildren .
Beverly ’ s first job was working in the garment factory . She only worked there one week and didn ’ t like it so she went to work for Netter ’ s Department Store as an office secretary . She moved to St . Louis , and worked for an optometrist , Dr . Miltelli .
Beverly remarried later in life to Max Jones on April 5 , 1961 , and they celebrated 41 years of marriage when he
passed away . They made their home in Springfield , where she worked for Payless Optical for 15 years then moved to Ash Grove 11 years ago to be closer to family .
Beverly and Max loved attending greyhound races in Memphis . Beverly likes listening to big band and easy listening music . She also enjoys attending music programs , watching TV , and reading mystery stories . Beverly attended Ash Grove Christian and Baptist Churches . Beverly and Max traveled across the United States . She even got to see President Truman at a meal being held at the Kentwood Arms in Springfield . She has seen the Lennon Sisters , Yaakov , Andy Williams in Branson and “ The King and I ” at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City . A few of Beverly ’ s favorite things are the song “ Stardust ,” the color green , reading , and Chinese food . Her motto is “ Do your travels while you are young !”
Congratulations Beverly , for being chosen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility ’ s Resident of the Month for April !
Beth Marlowe was chosen as Ash Grove Healthcare Facility ’ s Employee of the Month for March . The Employee of the Month for April has yet to be determined . The individual who is selected will be featured in the May edition of the Rocking Chair News .
