CLINICAL NEWS A Sick Day Can’t Keep the Doctor Away What happens when the doctor gets sick? Well, not much changes, apparently. The Spice of Life A study of 536 health-care workers in a children’s hospital revealed that 83% of health-care workers admitted to working while sick at least once in the past year – and 9.3% reported working while sick at least five times. Reaching for that bottle of hot sauce might help you live longer, according to an analysis of dietary data from more than 485,000 people. Over a median of 7.2 years of follow-up, compared with those who ate spicy food less than once a week, those who consumed spicy foods more frequently had a greater relative risk reduction for death: Almost all of the respondents said they believed that working while sick could put patients at risk,so why did they continue to do it? The reasons included: not wantin
