Webinar Preview Series for the 2017 ASH Meeting on Hematologic Malignancies

A special webinar series previewing the 2017 ASH Meeting on Hematologic Malignancies is available for free streaming from ASH On Demand at ashondemand . org / Webinars . We encourage anyone who may be considering attending the meeting to tune in to this educational webinar to get a sense of the content that will be covered in person , September 8-9 in Chicago , IL . The meeting will feature top experts in the field , comprehensive clinical updates , the latest clinical research , and opportunities to interact with colleagues in a small-group setting with no competing sessions . Apply for the ASH Advocacy Leadership Institute

ASH is now accepting nominations for its annual Advocacy Leadership Institute , September 27-28 , 2017 , in Washington , DC . This two-day workshop is an opportunity for ASH members to learn about legislation and health policy affecting hematology research and practice . The first day of the Institute will include sessions featuring guest speakers from Congress , the Administration , and the National Institutes of Health . On the second day , participants will apply what they have learned during visits to their congressional delegations on Capitol Hill . Nominations will be accepted through June 16 . Self-nominations are welcome , and individuals may nominate more than one colleague . Nominations Open for Honorific Awards

The Honorific Awards are ASH ’ s most prestigious awards , recognizing hematologists ’ significant contributions to the field . Each year , ASH honors outstanding hematologists with the following awards : the Wallace H . Coulter Award for Lifetime Achievement in Hematology , the Henry M . Stratton Medal , the William Dameshek Prize , the E . Donnall Thomas Lecture and Prize , the Ernest Beutler Lecture and Prize , the ASH Mentor Award , and the new ASH Award for Leadership in Promoting Diversity . New Opportunity for International Members : ASH Global Capacity-Building Showcase
ASH will showcase capacity-building programs in low- and middle-income countries ( LMICs ) at the 2017 ASH Annual Meeting . Requirements for submission are as follows : at least one author must be from an LMIC , presenters must practice in an LMIC , and posters must focus on research or capacity-building initiatives involving populations in LMICs . Please note that these are not scientific abstracts and will not be considered alongside oral or poster abstracts . There is no cost to submit . Selected posters will be displayed digitally at the meeting and will provide great exposure for your institution . Further instructions for submitting to the Global Capacity-Building Showcase will be posted in the annual meeting section of the ASH website in May ; the submission deadline is July 18 .
Submit Your Nomination to Become an ASH Choosing Wisely ® Champion
Presented in cooperation with the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation , the ASH Choosing Wisely Champions initiative was created to recognize the efforts of practitioners who are working to eliminate costly and potentially harmful overuse of common tests and procedures . Three nominees who have implemented successful projects to improve quality at their institution or hospital system will be selected to present their strategies during the Choosing Wisely session at the 2017 ASH Annual Meeting . Clinicians , researchers , and trainees at all levels in both academic and community settings are encouraged to apply by June 1 .
