Kids Lives Matter

Child Safety Week is an annual community education campaign run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust ( CAPT ), acting as a catalyst for thousands of safety conversations and activities UK-wide , helping families build confidence and skills in managing the real risks to children ’ s safety . We want all children to have the freedom to grow and learn , safe from serious harm and to reduce the number of children and young people killed , disabled or seriously injured by a preventable accident .

Learners ’ motivation to get involved
“ My son is 3 and I try to keep him safe and thought raising awareness for Child Safety Week was a great idea . I used the warning label on the back of my vape oil for inspiration and education provided me with other labels and logos . I made my poster bright to capture people ’ s attention and used small images to keep their attention and so they could see all the dangers to children .” Young Person
“ I have been learning about child safety as part of my parenting class and was keen to create a poster to
Due to COVID Polmont Parenting could not have the usual event in Life skills with external agencies involved , so we raised awareness through the following means :

support Child Safety Week . I like drawing cartoons and the two characters I used in my poster were people from a cartoon strip I created for Greenock prison magazine . I enjoyed bringing them back to life to promote such an important topic .” Female
“ I can remember when my kids when younger , trying to keep them safe , especially near water . I am aware of the recent worldwide campaign ‘ Black Lives Matter ’ and how much awareness people have of this so thought it would make sense to name my piece
‘ Kids Lives Matter ’ as their safety is so important .” Female
“ My big sister had recently had a child and I am an uncle , I understand how important it is to keep kids safe . My inspiration was ‘ all the daft stuff I used to get up to as a kid ’. I wanted to show what can result from being irresponsible .” Young Person
“ I done work experience in A and E as a teenager then worked in a children ’ s ward in hospital aged 16- 18 , I then worked in a trauma certified unit within the hospital and all traumas were directed to us . I have first-hand experience of dealing with accidents and injuries caused by people not paying attention . I also have personal experience of this within my family . I am one of the oldest of a family of 8 and had to care for and be aware of hazards and dangers to my siblings . I love to draw and used my imagination to think of images I felt were important .” Female
