The Lumineers

Fans of folk and roots rock will be pleased to know that The Lumineers, an
American band based out of Denver, Colorado, will be heading to Manila to
perform – for one night only – at the end of this month. This musical project,
which began in 2005 as a duo consisting of Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah
Fraites, has increased in size and sound over the years. Gaining most of their
notoriety as a trio, with the addition of female cellist and backing vocalist
Neyla Pekarek, the line-up these days sees 5 full-time members handling
various duties on guitar, piano, drums, mandolin, accordion and bass.

Jessie J, Live in Manila

Singer and songwriter Jessie J was born Jessica Ellen Cornish in London,
England, back in 1988. After signing with Universal Republic, Jessie came to
prominence following the release of her debut single, “Do It Like a Dude”,
which peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Charts. Aside from her musical
career, this singing talent has also served as coach and mentor on television
show, The Voice UK. Citing various influences, Jessie J is recognized for her
unconventional musical and performance style – one that mixes soul vocals with
contemporary R&B, pop, electropop, and hip-hop beats. Her 2nd studio album,
Alive, was released in September 2013 and she’ll be performing selections
from both her hit albums when she swings by Manila later this month.

Heading to Southeast Asia this month are the much talked about English
indie band known as the Bombay Bicycle Club. Hailing from Crouch End,
London, the band has released 4 studio albums, including So Long See You
Tomorrow, which topped the charts in February of this year. Since their rise to
fame in 2006 this quartet has experimented with different genres, including
folk, electronica, world music and indie rock.
