Wayang Cupak Wayang Cupak is a puppet show that acts out stories of Cupak Grantang, which tells about the life of Lord Brahma's two sons with very different characters. It is almost the same as the other Indonesian shadow puppets, and sticks to the structures and patterns of the traditional Balinese shadow puppet performances. Wayang performers are well known all over Java. They appear on television, and cassettes of their theatrical performances are available in stores. While most major dalangs are successors of the families of traditional performers, the 20th century ushered a group of actors who were not trained by their own elders. Several educational institutions have recently opened programs wherein puppetry can be studied by everyone.
