PRESS RELEASES Myanmar Tourism in Myanmar Slowly Gains Momentum Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is currently enjoying a surge in tourist arrivals. The country boasts unspoilt countryside and beaches, magnificent Buddhist temples, ancient cities and more. In 2012, tourist arrivals passed the one million mark, the first time it happened in the country. In 2013, some two million tourists explored the destinations in the country. The government created the Tourism Plan in 2013, with a target of 7.5 million tourist arrivals by year 2020.
