Frankfurt

In Detail: Busan
EAT
Though German sausages
may come to mind, the
local food specialty of
Frankfurt is actually a
hand-rolled curdled milk
cheese called handkäse
mit musik. If you’re unable to acquire a taste
for its pungent aroma,
try the Frankfurter kranz
instead — a layered
sponge cake filled with
decadent buttercream.
EAT
The famous Legazpi Sunday Market is one of the
city’s renowned open-air
markets. Its small-scale
businesses sell organic
produce to suit local and
international taste buds.
EAT
This city may be famous
for its spices and Middle
Eastern style of cooking,
but that’s just a part of
the local cuisine. Be sure
to try the khubz bread
that is an essential on every table in Muscat. If you
have a sweeter tooth, you
will love the region’s local
dates as well as halwa,
a delicious sweet treat,
similar to Turkish Delight.
Often called the summer capital of South Korea,
the city of Busan is a vibrant port town with
much to offer. Bursting with rugged mountains,
long stretches of beaches and spas, South Korea’s
second largest city is the perfect destination for
a relaxing holiday. While the mountain ranges
that cut through the city define the urban
landscape, the city is scattered with countless
spas and local food markets. Relatively low-key,
a Busan day out usually means relaxing on the
beach, visiting the city’s acclaimed fish market
or taking a scenic hike to the Buddhist temples
located deep within the surrounding mountains.

You can’t visit Makati
without immersing yourself in its rich culture. A

will give you an insight
into the history of the
city, as well as exposure
to both traditional and
contemporary local
artists. The cutting
edge of the art scene
can also be found along
Chino Roces Avenue.
EXPLORE
The pristine waters of
Muscat are home to
unique marine life, drawing all sorts of die-hard
diving fanatics. The
waters are rich with giant
sea turtles, sunfish, and
even several species
of sharks. You can also
take a boat excursion
out to sea to dolphin watch, and even
snorkel among them.

EAT
Busan, like much of
Korea, is a food paradise,
especially when it comes
to street food. One local
specialty is ssiat hotteok,
a Busan-style pancake.
Find this at Gukje Market,
a must-go if you’re looking
for cheap, authentic local
fare. For fresh seafood,
don’t miss Jagalchi Fish
Market in the Nampodong neighbourhood.
EAT
Xi’an’s biang biang mian
is the province’s take on
dried flat noodles, usually topped with eggs,
tomatoes and beef, a
specialty in the area.
WATCH
If you are in the city over
the weekend, one of the
most interesting things
you could do, whether
alone or with family,
is to watch a Lotte Giants baseball game at
Sajik stadium. Mountains
surround the open-air
stadium, so you can take
in some breathtaking
scenery, all while soaking
up some local culture.
