Who Is On The Ballot? JANUARY 2017 Regular Classes Rick Bowling First and foremost I would like to offer a heartfelt Thank You to the membership for the nomination to judge at the ASC Flushing Spaniel Show for 2017. It would be the highest honor to be afforded the opportunity to judge ones own breed at one of the oldest dog shows in history. I have been involved in the sport of dogs for most of my life. The Irish Setter was my first love and throughout my childhood and teen years I spent most of my free time training and working with my dogs in obedience. After I graduated from college I moved to Florida to pursue a career and to complete my post graduate work. I was “dogless” for almost two years and life just didn’t seem right. I wanted a smaller dog than an Irish as space and the heat in Florida was not conducive to having a large breed. Of course I wanted a sporting dog and the Cocker Spaniel seemed to be the perfect choice. I as many dog people, started out with a pet quality black bitch, aka Kaila, and from there the journey began. I was “bit” by the dog show bug and it’s now been over 25 years since I began my fascination and love of our beautiful breed. In limited breeding, I’ve shown and finished many of my own dogs under the RIBO prefix and also have had the pleasure of finishing many more for others. In 2005, I retired from active showing to begin a new journey; that of judging. I have thoroughly enjoyed this new venture and take very seriously my decisions when evaluating the future breeding stock of our breed. I have been an ASC member since the early 90’s and have served as assistant show chairman for the ASC nationals held in Orlando FL. I have held numerous positions including, President, Show Secretary and Show Chairman for the Suncoast Cocker Spaniel Club. Professionally, I’m currently the Vice President of Finance and Administration for a Network Management company in Tampa Florida. When I’m not working or participating in dog related activities, I also enjoy training and working with our horses. I am humbled by the nomination to be on the ballot. As a breeder/owner/handler it is the true honor to judge our wonderful breed and look forward with anticipation to the opportunity. Thank you for your consideration. Eleanor F. (Lee) Brown In 1980 a new chapter started in my life with the purchase of two show quality American Cocker Spaniels . A breeding career started under the prefix of Che-Lee Cockers which is active and continues today. Membership with the Cocker Spaniel Specialty Club of Georgia has been rewarding providing an opportunity to chair the July 2000 and 2005 Summer Nationals in Perry, Georgia. For 18 years I chaired the Peach Blossom Cluster Dog Show at the same location. My judging career started 17 years ago. It is an honor to judge the prestigious American Spaniel Club Show and I look forward to this opportunity. Jamie Hubbard Thanks for the privilege of being included in the nominations for the January 2017 Flushing Spaniel Show. I was born in Australia and was raised in the sport of purebred dogs. At 9 years of age, I became involved with showing Cockers, eventually becoming a breeder/owner/handler by the time I was 14. In the 20+ years of being involved with Cockers, I have bred champions of record in Australia, New Zealand, Italy and the USA, including the Best Bred-By in Show winner at the 2008 ASC National. I started judging Cockers in 1993 and have had the privilege of judging them around the world, including specialty shows in Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) and multiple specialties in the USA. I relocated to the USA in 2005 where together with my partner we breed dogs under the Clussexx Spaniel prefix. I have an investment in keeping this breed true to its intended purpose. I appreciate and look for a Cocker that has the proper balance of type and soundness, without sacrificing the breed specific qualities that define them. Kathy Lorentzen I have spent my entire life surrounded by Sporting Dogs. When I was a child, my parents kept and hunted over AKC registered Brittanys and Weimaraners. In 1964, my first Golden Retriever came along, and she was the dam of my first homebred, owner handled Champion, who finished his title in 1971. In 1972 the first English Springer Spaniel joined our AMERICAN SPANIEL CLUB, INC. BULLETIN December 2015 Page 24
