News from Global IBAC Associations
AsBAA congratulates AfBAA on becoming a member of IBAC. Through IBAC, AfBAA, AsBAA and the other 13 associations represent a common commitment to the highest standards, policies and best practices in business aviation. We look forward to working together.
IBAC Member Associations
There are currently 15 IBAC member associations from around the world representing a coordinated voice for business aviation and the international standards, policies, and best safety practices that are at the core of IBAC’ s mission. In November – AfBAA became the 15th IBAC member. As the Association’ s 15th member, AfBAA will now join fellow member associations in coordinating a single voice that promotes international standards, policies and best safety practices for the global business aviation sector. As the pan-African voice for business aviation this sits at the core of AfBAA ' s mission and vision. Having the support of such an organization will certainly be valuable as we embark on new adventures through the years to come, and we look forward to working with our fellow IBAC members.

About the African Business Aviation Association AfBAA
The African Business Aviation Association( AfBAA) is a not-for-profit organization that was inaugurated five years ago. It aims to promote the understanding and benefits that business aviation provides to Africa’ s economic development and prosperity. AfBAA is committed to identifying, addressing and implementing solutions across a range of critical issues in support of the sustainable growth of the industry. To this end, it supports enterprises, entrepreneurs, business leaders, governments, and their respective civil aviation authorities across the continent and assists international companies in establishing African operations.
The latest from AfBAA
With the beginning of the new year, we take the time to celebrate the success of AfBAA’ s fifth year. 2017 was our busiest and most active year yet. This month’ s newsletter highlights the defining events of the year and proves we are an active and dynamic Association putting our members at the core of everything we do. We believe AfBAA has built great foundations for the future.
Two into one as AfBAA and NBAC join forces
The African Business Aviation Association( AfBAA) teamed up with EAN Aviation, organisers of the annual Nigerian Business Aviation Conference, NBAC, to spearhead discussions about the value of creative business thinking, and how it can stimulate new ideas to help navigate the increasingly challenging world of business aviation in the region. The event programme was designed to provide a set of pragmatic tools to underpin stakeholders’ future planning and development. The main outcome of the meeting was a call for the creation of a Nigerian Business Aviation Association to support improved communications between all the region’ s stakeholders. Look out for more news about Nigeria events in the coming months.

Human resources are the key to sustainability in Africa
Access to the right human resources is key to the sustainable development of business aviation in Africa. So it was with great pleasure that we formulated the start of two training partnerships. Memos of Understanding( MoU) were signed with the Association of African Aviation Training Organizations( AATO), and the Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organisation( JAA TO). With these new relationships in place AfBAA is better positioned to improve access to standardised information, provide credible courses continent wide, and encourage African professionals to be trained in, and then subsequently work in, African business aviation. We are also in advanced discussions with Ethiopian Airlines to launch a Business Aviation 101 introductory course at their elite aviation academy in Addis Ababa. Education, professional development and training will continue to be a key theme for AfBAA in 2018.
