AsBAA in Action- April 2018 April Newsletter

AsBAA in Action In April, the industry came together for the biggest business and general aviation show in Asia, ABACE. This is the fourth year that AsBAA has co-hosted the show with our fellow IBAC member, NBAA. AsBAA deeply valued the opportunity to meet with industry stakeholders, government officials, our members, our media friends and the wider business aviation community at the show. We were honoured to take the lead in putting together the Education Programme on days one and two and we sincerely thank our members for joining the panel sessions and sharing their views and expertise with the community. We also hosted a press conference in which we shared important updates relating to the growth of the industry in China. In other announcements and develoments, AsBAA also signed a new MOU with Subic Bay International Airport, Philippines which follows on from the MOU signed with Malaysia Airports earlier in the year. This latest activity forms part of a region wide strategy to support governments in their development of aviation infrastructure. We were also delighted to host AsBAA’ s chosen charity, Orbis Flying Eye Hospital to present a cheque for USD24,000, representing funds raised by the AsBAA Community at the Icons of Aviation Awards 2017. In parallel with supporting governments, transport ministries and our members to realise the opportunities of the industry, we encourage industry players to “give back” under their own corporate social responsibility (CSR) plans. AsBAA has an active CSR programme that our members can engage in. This includes AsBAA Discovery, Women in Aviation and wider charitable and humanitarian efforts. Discovery had another wonderful year developing the Careers in Business Aviation Programme at ABACE2018. The programme, which is led by AsBAA Board of Governor member, Sarah Kalmeta hosted 200 students, educators and industry leaders on day three of the show. To learn more about AsBAA Discovery and how this initiative is helping to bridge the gap between next generation talent and the industry, please get in touch with the team. We now look ahead to EBACE in May and the Singapore Business Aviation Week, 11-14 June in which AsBAA will hold its Safety Day exclusively sponsored by Bombardier and Annual General Meeting. During this week, Corporate Jet Investor will also hold its annual CJI Asia conference. The SBAW week in June is shaping up to be a strong fixture on the Asian Business Aviation event calendar. AsBAA is a member-led organisation and we look forward to reporting back to you at the AsBAA AGM2018. As always, we thank our members and the business aviation community for supporting AsBAA.
