"THE GREEN DOWNS"

Meenangadi is a small town in Wayanad situated between Kalpetta and Sulthan Bathery. It’s said that this place got its name either due to the presence of Sree Matsya Avathara Mahavishnu Temple or the presence of well-known fish market. Meenangadi remains the agricultural market head of the district, the residents here are basically farmers and agricultural product merchants. Meenangadi is home to 7 tribal communities. It is surrounded by Ambalavayal panchayath towards east, Kalpetta Thaluk towards south, Mananthavady Thaluk towards the west and Sulthan Bathery Thaluk towards the north. Meenangadi has its achievement of being India's first Carbon-neutral Panchayath and Kerala’s first Panchayath to take up carbon-neutrality project.
