MDGs to SDGs: Whether India can accelerate the momentum Created?
United Nation (UN) has put forward Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) in 2015 with aim to transform the world in Economic, Environment and Social Pillars of sustainability by 2030. A set of 17 goals with 169 targets between them covers a broad range of Sustainable issues.“We don’t have a plan B because there is no Planet B” the words by the UN General secretary Ban Ki Moon clearly indicates the Individual responsibility of each one of us should undertake in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs).SDGS has come to action as a successor to Millennium Development Goals(MDGs), which was aiming in achieving set of eight measurable goals range from halving extreme poverty and hunger, to promote gender equality and reducing child mortality, by 2015.So each nations should implement SDGs in a way to carry forward the momentum generated by MDGs beyond 2015 and should kept in mind that the ultimate goal is providing life time dignity to all rather than substantial reduction in hunger, poverty and other deprivations.
