Yes, I certainly can. It was a competition for the SBS PopAsia Presenter Search. I was watching SBS with my girlfriend when they had showed the promotion for the competition, and she encouraged me to apply for the role. So I thought why not, it would be a great opportunity to learn new skills and work alongside the hosts. I wrote up a script that involved me introducing myself and having a mock interview with a Korean Pop artist. From there I asked a filmmaker who I’ve worked with to film my audition, which he was happy to do. I sent in my audition, then a couple months later I discovered I had made it to the final 15 through the judges’ decisions. From there, it was up to the public to vote on the video audition they liked the most, and I was lucky enough that they selected mine. It was such an overwhelming experience to find out that I was selected, still to this day I am so appreciative of the support from everyone. You say this has been a dream since you were little. Tell us when it was that you first realized this. When I was younger it was difficult for me to make friends and interact due to English being my second language, so I watched a lot of television shows and movies. I was so fascinated watching a storyline come together that was being portrayed through actors. I admired what they did and from there I knew that was what I wanted to pursue as a career. I read in a previous article that you are also a producer? What work have you produced? (Laughing) No – I’ve only done a little bit of producing, which was for my own short film that I wrote and co-directed. I have to tell you, it was such a different experience being behind the camera as opposed to being in front of it. I definitely have a new-found respect for producers and directors. Will you be producing anything new this year, and if so when should we be on the lookout for it? Yes. Hopefully we can film some more short films that I have written, but that comes with patience, timing, organization for every step without rushing. In saying that though, people will definitely get to see something from me in the near future. Going back to acting which is primarily what you do, how did you initially start out – did you study or jump straight into it? I was offered my first role as a lead for a music video.
