sick of it. Then I can’t get enough of it. Then I
want to play. Then I want to never play again.
Concert: See above. I hate stadium concerts –
last was U2 at SCG – ghastly. I hate festivals –
uncomfortable awful sound and I feel like
everyone does their festival show “Come on
everybody, clap your hands!” My favourite is
always small club and I feel like mainly it’s been
Australian jazz performers of the last twenty
years or so who’ve been my favourite over and
over again.

Book: Whatever I’m reading at the moment…
which is Murakami’s 1Q84 - awesome!
Film: I vary between Singing In the Rain,
Broadway Danny Rose and The Producers - all
films about showbiz!
TV show: So many - I’ve loved the last decade
of long form shows - I’ll throw in a forgotten one Deadwood.
Play: Hmm… best night at the theatre – The
Producers on Broadway with Matthew Broderick
and Nathan Lane… (I love The Producers in all
its forms – check Larry David’s Curb Your
Enthusiam – the series where he plays
Max Bialystock on Broadway.)
Song/album: My relationship with music - it’s
complicated. I love it. Then I hate it. Then I’m
Painting: Paintings are a new thing for me. I had
no interest for years. Suddenly - and I blame
MONA – I started to see them. I started to see
the fun. Now I’m a bit thirsty for them. Not sure I
have a favourite yet. Last few months loved The
Greats at AGNSW, Gilbert and George at MONA
and Ai Weiwei/Warhol at NGV. Had a great time
at all of them.
Poem: Can’t read poetry. I don’t know how.
