hours a night in a foreign country for one month, and you?re attending media event after media event in a bid to represent your respective nation to the best of your ability. You feel like a goldfish in a bowl; there are cameras on you all the time. That said, participating in Miss World was beyond rewarding: it was a forum for high-achieving women from around the globe to meet, to communicate, to bond. And it provided us, the contestants, with the opportunity to return home much richer in cultural knowledge, and inspired us to further spread the Miss World message of „Beauty with a Purpose?. The goal of Miss World is “Beauty with a Purpose” – can you tell us more about what this means? „Beauty with a Purpose? refers to the directive of all Miss World contenders to pursue charitable work during their reign as a beauty queen. It can be volunteer work, or fundraising. During my term as Miss World Australia and then as Miss World Asia Pacific, I worked with over 25 charities, both in Australia and overseas, and helped them to raise in excess of $5 million. It?s life-changing stuff, for both the representatives and the recipients of all these charitable donations. It?s beautiful.
