Medawar, was the well-known Lebanese inventor of the talking clock. He installed his clocks all over Lebanon and the Middle East, and his most famous clock was the flower talking clock in the centre of Beirut, at Martyr’s Square. This became the emblem of unity and the president of Lebanon would address the nation on the first day of the year through its talking system. The inauguration of the clock was on January 1st, 1969, and my father had me present the scissors to the Mayor of Beirut for the cutting ceremony.
