London born multi- disciplinary visual artist and digital illustrator Becki Kremer who now lives in Stoke will showcase her work within our campus cafe.
Becki’ s work is heavily inspired by bold prints, floral patterns, her Caribbean heritage, eyecatching cartoons, and anything kitsch. Becki particularly enjoys loud colour combinations, and is always looking to work with as many varied mediums. Aside from illustration, Becki also regularly work on textile projects, large-scale hand painted murals, and running art workshops with some of the talented arts organisations locally.
How do we make the time to be creative? While the benefits of creativity for both individual wellbeing and social cohesion are well recognised, finding the time to be creative remains a challenge.
In threading time geographer and maker Clare Holdsworth presents her own interpretation of making time for creativity. Using fabric craft the pieces in the exhibition capture how time is the material of making. Rather than seeing time as a barrier to creativity; time threads creativity together through memory, starting, finishing, and enjoying the pleasure of making itself.
The exhibition will be supported by participatory activities offered by the Cultural Sisters, a participatory arts organisation based in Stoke on Trent.
The exhibition is funded by The Leverhulme Trust through a Major Research Fellowship: The Social Life of Busyness in an Age of De-Acceleration.
