EDITORIAL: ART AND CONFLICT
Mary Sibande, I Came Apart at the Seams, exhibition at Somerset House,
London (3 October 2019 – 5 January 2020).
Sibande explores themes of blackness, patriarchy, and apartheid in South Africa
through her multimedia sculptures. Blue represents the color worn by household servants
while purple symbolizes revolution through an imagine figure named Sophie.
