We spoke with Lauren M. Craig,
Director of Marketing and Artistic
Initiatives at Newark Arts for more
information on the festival.
The Newark Arts Festival
seems to get bigger and bigger
each year, what are some of the
new additions people should
look for this year?
We’ve forged partnerships with
five real estate developers in
order to host multiple pop up
exhibits in empty retail spaces
Downtown, including a Festival
Headquarters pop up experience
at 1180 Raymond Boulevard.
2019 FALL PREVIEW
• ILLUMINATE 2019 is a brand
new citywide lighting activation.
Each night at dusk participating
galleries, cultural institutions, gov-
ernment buildings and corpora-
tions will light their windows and
buildings in pink lighting. Partici-
pants include: City Hall, Newark
Library, TRYP Hotel, Robert Treat
Hotel, Audible, Rutgers and more!
• An improved digital and print-
ed mapping system to assist with
better connectivity of the festival
• Educational panels focused on
career development for artists
With so many events, the fes-
tival can appear daunting to
people attending for the first
time. What do you suggest to
newbies to make it a great ex-
perience?
One of the key features this
year to help visitors navigate the
festival is our Festival Headquar-
ters located at 1180 Raymond
