Chasing Rainbows focuses on
the awkward young girl with the
booming voice. The musical in-
cludes a book by Marc Acito, mu-
sical adaptation and additional
music by David Libby and was
conceived by Tina Marie Casa-
mento who also provided ad-
ditional lyrics. The production
begins performances Thursday,
September 26 and will continue
through Sunday, October 27.
It takes a long time to bring a
new musical to the stage - often
about eight years or so - and Ra-
kos has been with the project
since the very beginning six years
ago. She’s already performed two
runs of the show for Goodspeed
Musicals who created the work.
This will be the second time she’s
had the opportunity to originate
a role in a new play, but the first
time she’s done so with such a sig-
nificant amount of time put into
the project.
“Everyone dreams of originating
the lead in a big musical,” said Ra-
kos. “It’s definitely a dream come
true.”
