STAFF PICKS
LIBRARY STAFF
Many people may not realize all of the different jobs of the library’s staff members. They all serve time at the circulation desk, but what are they doing when
they aren’t at the desk or working directly with a patron? Here are all of the
different jobs of the staff members of the library.
Sarah Flood serves as the director of the library, so she administers all library
operations, works with the board members, and purchases materials for the
library’s collection. The assistant director and cataloger is Debbie Henderson.
She acts as the director in the absence of the director, supervises the staff members, and catalogs all of the materials that patrons borrow from the library.
For library patrons who are sick/homebound or residing in an assisted living
facility, Susie Harper serves as the outreach librarian. She delivers library materials to the hospital, nursing homes, and homebound patrons and also brings
library programs and crafts to those patrons. Susie manages all of the adult
programming, too. Jeana Dubree is our children’s librarian. She plans and implements all of our children’s programs, maintains the children’s collection,
and makes monthly visits to many of the county’s schools.
Angie Scott and Bethaney Brent serve as branch managers: Angie in Irvington
and Bethaney in Cloverport. They perform all duties required of a library including planning and implementing programs, cataloging, and managing the
circulation desk at their respective libraries. The library’s marketing coordinator is Maura O’Donoghue. She orders promotional materials for the library,
fulfills interlibrary loan requests, updates the website, schedules the board and
meeting rooms, and writes the monthly newsletter.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1) The library’s staff members are the most important resource of the library.
Without them, the library would fail to properly function, and patrons would
receive no service. During times of inclement weather, the library may close
early, open late, or fail to open due to the safety of the staff and its patrons.
Please keep this information in mind in the instance of one of the previously
mentioned circumstances.
2) AARP will, once again, come to the library during tax season. They will do
everyone’s taxes for free and will be here on Tuesdays beginning on February
3rd and ending on April 13th from 9:00am-1:30pm. They will also be here on
one Saturday: February 27th. The library staff cannot help anyone with any tax
help. If you have any questions about your taxes, direct those questions to one
of the AARP representatives or a CPA.
