A train chase, a plane crash, a knife in the back, handcuffs and a missing finger...all in a day's work with the upcoming third show of the Eunice Players' Theatre's production of "The 39 Steps", directed by Debi L. Crawford. This fast paced comedy pays homage to the suspenseful Alfred Hitchcock movie by the same name and adds a dash of Monty Python comedy to bring alive the 150 characters of this movie played by the talented cast of four.
The dashing Richard Hannay is leading a boring life until he meets a woman with a thick accent who immediately dies in his arms. Soon, Hannay is chased across England and Scotland by the mysterious organization known as The 39 Steps. Along the way he meets a number of outlandish characters. In the lead role as Hannay is Bradley Credeur of Lafayette and playing the roles of Annabella/Margaret/Pamela is Bonnie Pitre of Eunice. The other 140 or so roles are being played by the versitile Gabe Ortego and Van Reed. Some of their characters include: Compere and Mr. Memory, the traveling underwear salesmen, the Crofter, the Professor, thugs, detectives and Mr. and Mrs McGarrigle.
This comedy opens Nov. 13 and runs Nov. 16 and 19-21 with curtain at 7pm. There will be a Dinner Theatre night on Thursday, Nov. 14th, with a catered steak dinner served by Ruby's Restaurant and Courtyard. On Sunday, Nov. 17, there will a 2pm matinee.
