Acting Unlimited is proud to announce that their production of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA in a new version by Annie Baker will open on January 23, 2014 and run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 through February 1 at Theatre 810 in downtown Lafayette.
This intimate, immersive new adaptation of Chekhov's classic from critically-acclaimed playwright Annie Baker, author of Body Awareness, Mirror Circle Transformation, and The Flick, brings colloquial language to this internationaly beloved story of human relationships and yearning. Written with the “goal of creating a version that sounds to our contemporary American ears the way the play sounded to Russian ears during the play’s first productions in the provinces in 1898”, Ms. Baker's Uncle Vanya introduces 21st century audiences to Chekhov's enduring wit, insight, and emotional depth.
The cast includes Rudy Eisenzopf as Vanya, Leslie Whitman as Sonya, Jason Petitjean as Astov, Jessica Jouclard as Yelena, Dr. Daniel Wiltz and Serebryakov, Debbi Ardoin as Marina (Nanny), Patricia Drury Disman as Maria, and Steven Benelli as Telegin (Waffles). The production is directed by Walter Brown.
