IPAL presents "A Raisin in the Sun"

The first production of IPAL’s 2015-2016 season will be Lorraine Hansberry’s classic, A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Phanat Xanamane. The plot tells the tale of the Youngers, a struggling African-American family led by Mama Lena Younger, a strong matriarch, in search of the American Dream. It was the first show produced on Broadway written by an African-American woman. It has been revived most recently in 2014, and a film version released in 1961 starred Sidney Poitier, Claudia McNeil and Ruby Dee. Performances are scheduled September 10-20, 2015. The cast features all newcomers to the IPAL stage that join us from all over the Acadiana area. A special "Talk Back" will occur for half-an-hour immediately following the opening night performance.
