Band Drawings
The Band drawings evolved at an on and off pace
over a period of 3 years. Throughout the intervals,
the work was inevitably subject to the layering of
time. Creating, destroying, cutting up, folding,
creating again and so on. The irregularity in the
making of this work, set the ground for questioning
concepts of rhythmic structures and substructures
imposing on the drawings a certain dispassionate
evolutionary system conceding the emergence of
multiple logics within on surface.
The individual format of each band, is in itself a
rhythmic option and an operative device to enhance
the exploration of overruling rhythmic narratives.
Lines, shapes, colour and cutouts hence emerge
from an organic and evolutionary approach to
creation where seemingly detached elements play a
particular role in morphing two and three
dimensional constructions into one complex
consistency.
