Snippan
Design Åsa Jungnelius
Åsa Jungnelius ’ modern classic , Snippan , is now being presented in a smaller design that can also be used as a bowl . Since it was first created in 2003 , Snippan has become a contemporary feminist symbol that has recurred in different forms and formats in Jungnelius ’ art , for example , in countless table settings – a work that Jungnelius describes as a social act . The sculpture is included in Nationalmuseum ’ s collection as the “ mothership ” of the work Your hair is so pretty ! – a sealed blownglass object that challenges concepts such as gender , power , space and identity . In 2004 , Snippan helped to establish a new word , which was included two years later in the Swedish Academy Dictionary . “ I ’ m so glad that Snippan is now available in a smaller , more accessible design for interiors – it is a sculpture , but it is also a bowl , a carrier ,” says Åsa Jungnelius . Snippan is cast in a graphite mold at the hot shop in Kosta and painted with liquid platinum .
