Seemingly stands still, forever does it hide. A wise man once said: Acts big and solid, moves slowly as time goes on. Not to fool with fire But yet it does not show, what power lies inside. For it acts asleep, during night and dawn. Sometimes, it erupts and shows its true strength Breaks and cracks, fury is unleashed upon the land You only need to travel a miles’ length Or you will surely be dead And only when you need is dire Fire you can lit, For warmth or comfort But be warned you must cherish it! And so many people conferred To discover what earth does demand This great power to the element But it rarely is greedy, and it forgives us too An element which can destroy Mistakes we make are never seen This element treated others like excrement As life and other things use you to renew Yes, of life, earth must be very keen Earth creates growth, gives home to life. An ability other elements only can strife The wise old man made a decoy For he was benevolent And so the power of fire was void Through the cracks and crevices it flows A boy once asked air: Through the trees, in the mountains it goes How do you blow without a push? Drifting, and falling downwards evermore Air responded without a swear Till it hits the solid floor I do it with a swoosh The boy glanced and said Never the same yet never changes Why is fire always mad? Found far and wide, in many ranges Air was wise and said, he is sad It may be liquid drops you see The boy did not understand Or cold snowflakes on a frozen sea Air was a wise teacher But he could not explain So many forms, and so many changes To this creature One to another and then to the next How fire did get sad Continually making exchanges As this is still So many possibilities you’ll be perplexed A mystery how he went bad All around us, everywhere we look Ever existing, in every brook
