Eat for a Week:
Meal Planning and Recipes
A diagnosis of diabetes may leave you wondering what you
can eat. Diabetic recipes do not have to be bland or boring
and there are still many things you can eat! Head to a local
bookstore or library to find diabetic-specific cookbooks,
or do an Internet search for them. Good resources include
the Diabetes Canada website (diabetes.ca/diabetes-and-
you/recipes), the American Diabetes Association website
(diabetes.org/mfa-recipes/recipes/) and Diabetic Living
(diabeticlivingonline.com/diabetic-recipes).
Making a meal plan for the week allows you to complete your
shopping in one trip, utilize ingredients for multiple recipes
and cut down on total food costs. Here is a sample meal plan
