ART Habens Art Review ART Habens Art Review - Special Issue #93 | Page 93

Sharone Reef ART Habens experience is. I seldom follow recipes and allow my soul to fully guide me even in the kitchen. When I write my words are often vibrant and discriptive, illustrating and expressing precisely what and how my mind envisions it. Once upon a period in my life I had forgotten about colors. My story is written and illustrated in a childrens' book I had written named Sunshine, which has not been published yet. It tells a story of a struggling butterfly, Sunshine, who sets her wings in search for the colors which once decorated her life. She re-discovers an array of colors when visiting different locations, finally noticing the palette of colors on her wings. I guess I can clearly say that my psychological make-up determines the way I create. My art, of course, is an expression and a refection of the energy that comes with colors. The tones, shades and intensity of colors depend heavily on my psychological make-up, as you named it. When I teach art in the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts I also focus on self expression and the energy that comes with colors in art. In fact, in my last teaching session I demonstrated to my teen students the effects of a dominant color in a single photograph. In this program they are creating a story about themselves focusing on their individual strengths and a closer examination of their character, as one and as a member of a community, using photography as the dominant medium. My color palette always holds a combination of uplifting, energizing, warm , comforting and healing colors. 21 4 06 Special Issue
