During my studies there was great
pressure placed on my colleagues and
me to define our own style in art. Now I
believe, as I did then, that it was far too
early for a twenty-year-old to established
their own specific form of expression.
Then I did the best thing possible and
made a two-year break from it all. During
this time my talent, knowledge and need
to paint started shaping my identity. I
My mother told me that the first time I
took a pen in my hand I draw a faithful
representation of a cat. In essence, my
engagement with drawing began in my
early childhood. My skills developed with
the help of my family who recognized my
talent. My official education in the arts
started in high school. I used the period
of high school and college to study art
craftsmanship. Also, at that time I
explored other kinds of arts; sculpting,
