" Jerusalmix " is the name of the group of painters that Hedi Tarja and Anatoly Basin have formed, and I have participated in it for many years. Hedi Tarja found the term " figurative-abstract " to describe our ways of painting. I think that even in abstraction, the figurative form still exists. For me, the opening is to stay awake before the canvas until she starts to talk to me. My dialogue with her is to give her life, as Picasso said: " I am trying to make the painting alive."
I have, since my young years, reflected on the relations of ethics and aesthetics, without wanting to choose. My subjects always revolve around the mother, the woman, the female body, from which we are born, from the strange relation which shapes us in this early childhood, with the woman who treats us and who loves us. Thinking thus, I never leave the tradition of painting, the one that has taken a position to make the body appear, in the representations of the Madonna, with or without children, who have transformed, with the retreat of belief, into nudes or in portraits.
