Reflection
In all the years I had CKV I learned a lot about art and culture. With school we went to
several shows and plays where multiple themes were included. Furthermore I visited some
shows and plays myself and visited several museums and cities in the past couple of years.
Those experiences taught me a lot about art and culture.
I visited a classical concert in the first year of CKV, but unfortunately it was pretty boring. I
was called Leningrad from Shostakovich. We were almost the only ones under the age of 50.
Classical music isn’t my taste, so that is why I didn’t like the show.
I visited the ballet Et Après from Isabelle Beernaert. It was an interesting experience,
because it opened my eyes and I never expected it to be so lively and emotional. Beforehand
I thought it would be boring and dull, but luckily it wasn’t.
I visited the pop concert “Semi Bekend” from Kraantje Pappie. I went there with my friends
and the place where it was, was a little bit smaller than I expected. The music was my style,
so that was the main argument why it was better than the classical concert.
I visited the opera Porgy and Bess in the Musis Sacrum in Arnhem. We went here with the
entire fourth grade which was fun. The performance was very loud, because I was sitting in
the front of the hall, but the storyline was very nice and interesting. I would definitely
understand if you would go to such a brilliant performance.
I visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. This was pretty shocking, because there
were a lot of poppies and every one of them stand for a dead soldier which shocked me a
lot, since This were only the Australian deaths in the First World War and not even the
German or Russian, of which a lot more people died.
I visited the city of Coventry. This was a very good experience since I went there with my
host family during my language and work experience. There were a lot of beautiful old
buildings in the city centre. We visited the transport museum over there which holds a lot of
beautiful cars.
I watched the Hunger Games. The movie is very good directed and produced. The special
effects are amazing and the storyline is simple and easy to follow. There are a lot of
moments with lots of action which I liked a lot.
I visited Paris in May 2014. I went there with my family and my “nanny”. We went to all the
famous hotspots in the centre of the city, but unfortunately we didn’t visit the Louvre
museum.
