CA 7 Film Review General Information The Hunger Games is a science fiction movie from 2012 produced by Nina Jacobsen and John Kilik and directed by Gary Ross. The movie is based on the novel written by Suzanne Collins published in 2008. The slogan of the movie is: “May the odds be ever in your favour”. It is about a girl who has to compete in a fight to the death. There are two contesters, who are between 12 and 18 years old, from each of the 12 districts. Katness and Peeta first pretend to be in love, but later they really do. Eventually Katness and Peeta are the only survivors and for the first time in history there are 2 winners. The themes are: Feminism, because the main character is a girl. Repression, because there is a higher social class who control the districts. Death, because a lot of competitors in the Hunger Games die and Hope, because if you win the games you will be free. Henk ter kate want hij is super duper leuk Why did I want to see it? I haven’t watched the movie in the cinema, since I did not have the time or money to go there. I heard great opinions about the film, so I decided that I wanted to see it as well. I asked a friend to download it for me and put it on a CD. Futhermore, my mother read the book and she wanted to see it as well, so that is another reason why I asked my friend to download it. Research The main actors in the film are Jennifer Lawrence( Katness Everdeen) and Josh Hutcherson( Peeta Mellark). Both actors are relatively young, but already had quite some experience in other big movies. Jennifer was one of the major actors in “X-Men” and Josh was one of the major actors in “Journey to the centre of the Earth. This means they have a lot of talent. The movie belongs to the genre action and science fiction. This is because the story is set in a fictional world which does not really exist. And it is action since there are a lot of killings and scenes where the characters move a lot and run. The Movie was distributed by Lionsgate, which gave their biggest budget ever to produce the movie: 78 million US dollars. Eventually this would be a good investment, since the total revenues were above 600 million. When producing and directing the movie. The director and producers decided to change or add some parts of the book to make it even more exiting. The story is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic world in the nation of Panem, where every year boys and girls between 12 and 18 called “tributes” have to fight to the death to gain
