Documentary: “Miami Beach 100”
A new documentary which chronicles The
Billion Dollar Sandbar’s first 100 years, told by
those who lived through the booms and busts.
Alfred Spellman, one of the producers, will
introduce the documentary.
The documentary is produced by rakontur,
a Miami Beach-based media studio founded
by Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman in 2000.
Rakontur produced the Cocaine Cowboys
documentary series, The U, The U Part 2 and
Broke for ESPN’s critically acclaimed 30 for
30 series and the feature documentaries Dawg
Fight, Limelight, Square Grouper and Raw
Deal: A Question of Consent. The documentray
was funded by the John S. and James L. Knight
Foundation.
Alfred Spellman was born in
Miami Beach, Florida, USA.
He is a producer, director and
co-founder of rakontur a Miami
based production company
known for Cocaine Cowboys
(2006), Cocaine Cowboys
Spellman
2 (2008) and Raw Deal: A
Question of Consent (2001).

photo exhibit in the Art Deco Museum with the
artists as they discuss their work and inspiration.
The featured photographers for this art exhibit
are Arthur Marcus, Albert Barg, Jeff Weisberg,
Brandon Quarters and Vander Bhirtwish. For
