n 2016 the award was given
to Linda Parisi. Linda was born
in Tokyo, Japan but calls Ocean
Shores, Washington her home.
She has had a couple of ink and
watercolor plein air sketches
published in Sketchbook
Magazine. Her paintings are
primarily cityscapes, florals,
classic cars, and motorcycles.
Linda’s paintings can be seen
at Mermaid Cove Gallery
and Fusions Gallery in
Ocean Shores, Washington,
State of the Arts Gallery in
Olympia, Washington, and
she has partnered with the
LeMay Family Collection at
Marymount Event Center in
Tacoma, Washington.
In 2017 the award was given
to Cheryl Metcalf. Cheryl,
like Nancy, works in many
mediums. Cheryl was born in
Auburn, California — growing
up she spent much of her
teen years poring over books
about great artists — such
as Auguste Rodin. Cheryl’s
most recent accomplishment
includes winning a multi-
statewide competition for public
art. Her Sculpture of “Chief
Morris Antelope” of the Coeur
d’Alene Tribe was selected by
unanimous vote of the CDA
Arts Commission. “Chief
Morris Antelope” currently
overlooks the headwaters of
the Spokane River adjacent to
North Idaho College in Coeur
d’Alene Idaho. Metcalf often
does live demonstrations of
sculpture as well as taking
private commissions, ranging
from babies to family pets.
