Art Chowder:   How did you get into glass creations and how long have you been working with glass? Chorvat:  As a child, I spent hours and hours captivated by materials science. I would do small experiments, with rocks, fire, and other phenomenal processes as I learned of them. My fascination with geology caused me to contemplate what happens to rocks when they get hot, which led to a better understanding of what was happening to silica sand when I witnessed traditional Venetian glasswork, in Italy. When I saw these European factories and the way they were turning pure sand into this archival material, that bridged the gap between the science and the art, and I got bit by the glass bug. 22 ART CHOWDER MAGAZINE
