est was one of more than 30
artists who painted a heart for the
“Give Love” event for the Ronald
McDonald House to raise money for
the services of Ronald McDonald
House in Spokane (https://
rmhcinlandnw.org/give-love-heart-
project). West likes to do projects
that give back to the community and
was honored to be chosen for this
project.
She is a resident artist at the William
Grant Gallery, 1188 W. Summit
Parkway, Spokane, Washington,
in the Kendall Yards development.
Charlie Hinton, owner of William
Grant Gallery, said, “Vicki is one of
twelve artists selected by us to be
a resident artist when we moved to
the new location. We selected her
because of her ongoing growth as an
artist and her dedication to her work.
She is a great watercolorist.”
West was one of the artists selected to have her painting, Passing
Time, featured on posters to promote First Friday events in downtown
Spokane. Each month for First Friday, Downtown Spokane prints a
limited number of collectible posters from local artists. Posters can be
picked up at the Visit Spokane Visitor’s Center inside Riverfront Park
on First Friday and throughout the month.

Elizabeth Hooker, marketing and programming director from the
Downtown Spokane Partnership, said, “While First Friday is a well-
established monthly event celebrating cultural and visual arts all
throughout downtown, we felt we could do more to bring attention to
the many talented local artists in the region. In late 2018, we launched
our poster artist series, featuring work by a different artist each
month. Vicki West was the second artist we featured, in December
of 2018, and her piece Passing Time evoked the feeling of Alice
peering through the looking glass, spying on a whimsical forest scene
— a perfect complement of the wonder of the holiday season. After
launching the call for artists in August of 2018, we weren’t sure who
would be interested in being featured, and to have an artist of West’s
caliber submit work for consideration was a perfect launch to what
we hope will become a fixture of Frist Friday for years to come.”
