aurie Lamon is an American literary Pushcart Prize recipient and was selected
by Poet Laureate Donald Hall as a Witter Bynner Fellow in 2007. She teaches
English at Whitworth University, is poetry editor for the literary journal Rock &
Sling and currently holds the Amy Ryan Endowed Professorship at Whitworth.
How do you see your vocation?
My teaching life and writing life are deeply connected. Teaching is my vocation.
What I see unfolding for students in poetry writing and literature courses I know
adds something to their lives, their understanding of humanity, and their role as
global citizens.
