Designer mod furniture from the 1950s shares a space with opulent light fixtures and picture frames particular to the 1980s while telephones , mirrors , and elevators around the hotel are really straight from the 1920s . Matching color palettes and a distinct sense of whimsy keep the space coherent , but the sense of history expands across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries , well past the resort ’ s opulent Gilded Age origins .
In order to keep the design updated , without compromising on the historical integrity of the resort , they closed for two months over the winter last year , and the year before that . As autumn comes around this year , the Columbia River Gorge Hotel and Spa is back in full swing , open for three meals a day , spa treatments , garden tours , weekend trips , and of course , wedding packages that allow you to either rent out large parts of the resort for just yourself and your party , or mingle with other guests , the artists , celebrities , sight-seers , rock climbers , and Gorge enthusiasts who help the resort bustle with life over 100 years on .
