“ Sometimes I don ’ t know why I do what I do ; what I do now just kind of happened — it started with an experiment .” While Carrie is a technically skilled painter , she doesn ’ t care much for rules . “ That ’ s when people get innovative , is when they stop following the rules ; nothing would ever be new if everyone followed the rules all the time . You can follow those guidelines but sometimes they don ’ t work for what you want to say or do . I go with my gut a lot of the time , and sometimes even change my plans halfway through . I work with photographs , but only for the beginning . I have to take it away from myself , so I make my own decisions , otherwise I ’ ll just try to match the photograph .”
Her big new project is the “ Mustang Poetry ” series . Her new favorite piece is called “ I ’ ll Make it to The Moon if I Have to Crawl .” The piece features a scarred mustang , and poetry by her fiancé . “ I love the scarring .
